It was busy - and get this, you sign yourself up on the wait list. Very reminiscent of a small farm town restaurant, which I guess it is. My husband ordered corned beef hash and it was killer. He meant to bring some home as leftovers but that didn't happen. My omelet (a northwest or pacific omelet? something locally driven) was filling and unique and awesome. We LOVE supporting local businesses and the quality is outstanding.

This little farm-to-table spot is great! This was exactly the meal we needed after a week on the road. I had the northwest omelette (delish!!) and my boyfriend had the delectable Hayden omelette with tomatoes, avocado, bacon, and cheddar cheese. The coffee was good even by PNW standards, not to mention plentiful-- the waitstaff ensured that we had plenty of caffeine to gear us up for the last leg of our trip. Be sure not to miss the homemade lemon curd!
(5)David B.
Good service and good food. Has a nice little patio that was nice to have breakfast on such a good day. The menu has some standards but really has some unexpected items. A little off of the beaten path but worth a stop in.

Went here for breakfast on Father's Day morning. This was my first visit here, so I'm not sure how what we experienced compares to their 'standard' level of busy-ness. Anyhow, here's the breakdown of my rating: Food - 5 stars: I had the Hayden, which had beautifully fluffy eggs, a nice combination of flavors, and not overwhelmingly huge. Another person in our group ordered the Bonner, which she said was super tasty, and well balanced. The rosemary toast was amazing, especially with the lemon curd/raspberry jam combo on top. Two members of our group ordered the pancakes. Personally, I don't order pancakes for breakfast, as I typically find them to be merely adequate, if not underwhelming. But these pancakes were by far the BEST I have ever tasted! So much so that I might actually order them myself next time... Lots of other tasty-looking creative offerings on the menu. There aren't a lot of places in the area that I want to try everything they offer, but here, I do! :) Atmosphere - 2 stars: First off, 5 of us were seated at a square table for 4, which means one of us was sitting right on the corner of the table. Certainly not an ideal situation. Didn't see ANY round tables, so this may have been our only option. Secondly, the acoustics in the room we were in were crazy awful! I couldn't hear what our servers were saying, much less what other people in my group were saying. The breakfast conversation was punctuated by multiple requests to repeat what was said, paired with the cupping-one's-ear gesture. The place is an old house, which is cute and quaint, and sitting close to other tables was expected. It was a beautiful June morning, so all the doors were open, which was really enjoyable, but I can imagine how our winter weather might cause some of the table locations to be undesirable. Service - 2 stars: Our service was timely and efficient. We were able to order fairly quickly, and the food arrived surprisingly promptly, considering how busy it was. Attentiveness was good - water glasses, if empty, were not empty for long, and coffee never made it below half a cup before refills were offered. So why only 2 stars, you ask?? It appears that the coffee pots the servers use tableside splash a bit; so (possibly?) to prevent the coffee from splashing out of your used cup and back onto the coffee pot, our server would pour the coffee from a height of 6-8 inches above the cup - almost as if the pouring were a performance. Problem is, if the coffee splashes when poured from a height of 2", it REALLY splashes when poured from 6"!! I could feel the coffee splashing on my arms, and would try to lean away from my coffee cup, but our server seemed to either not notice, or not care. I later found multiple coffee splashes on my white clothing. Server 101 tells me spilling food or drink on your patrons is not a "best practice". Simple fix, so I'm not sure why I'm even having to write about it... I will go back for the food for sure, as I would love to explore their menu. But, I won't wear white, and I won't go expecting to have conversations across the table with a larger party.

We ordered the Croque Monsieur. Fabulous! Have not had something this good since... Paris! Absolute YUM! And a beautiful side salad too.
(5)Kary K.
Perfect nearly every time we come in, even when it's insanely busy. We come in often, and every time we have really nice service and great food. The coffee's really good, but their iced hibiscus tea is to die for if you're a tea drinker! Everything is good, but the big favorites are the steak fried pork (not sure if that's the right name, but it's a chicken fried pork cutlet with gravy) for me and the stuffed French toast for the hubby. All their omelets/scrambles are amazing though, and while I've only been there for lunch once, it was so tasty. All in all, great local place to frequent!
(5)Kait K.
Hm, so I try to not eat at meh places, I always check yelp first and am for the most part very satisfied. I can see why people would really like this place. But I just didn't, and my boyfriend was meh about it as well. We were seated quickly being only 2 people but it was right by the door so everyone waiting was standing a foot from us and it was really cold being right by the constantly opening door. Our server was nice and the menu was very interesting. I got the salmon and goat cheese scramble which was just overwhelming with the amount of goat cheese on it. And I LOVE cheese! But it was all I could taste. The potatoes were sub par and the lemon curd was pretty ok as well but not like WOW. The decor was just like the food, trying way too hard. I don't think I will ever go back here considering the other amazing diners in CDA
(2)Casey A.
Lovely Local watering hole! I love this place. The food is always fresh and hot! Well worth the wait in the tiny cramped entry. I LOVE the lemon curd on the Rosemary sourdough toast with any omelette. The coffee is great as well!
(5)Denni P.
Cute place, friendly service and great food. Basic eggs and bacon for me, they have GF toast if you need it. Delicious!
(4)Robert J.
I've been on the road for 12 days and this was the best meal so far. I had the spaghetti with eggs and ground sausage........yum. My wife had the pork chop fried steak topped with their delicious gravy. Overall, this meal was great....highly recommended.
(5)Hb H.
This place is amazing!!! We were the first ones here as we are still in east coast time but it would be worth a wait. I had a crab omelette, hubby had salmon omelette. All the ingredients were super fresh & there was no problem changing the cheese on my omelette to amazing local chèvre. Large billinis & coffee and say yes to the lemon curd & raspberry jam. Wow oh wow- can't wait to come back. I am a fan!!
(5)Nicole T.
I had the crab omelet with biscuits and gravy on the side, it was delicious! The portion was more than enough but not too much.
(5)Solita B.
I rate Garnet a 2 not because of the service or food quality but that its so packed and privacy dearth in there. We were there just after noon and it was chicken crate crowded, maybe that's so 'round traditionally set meal times but we did get our food then to go from the table and breezed out, free people who could finally hear each other talk. They have good omelets too 'tho and varied menu. Waitress was very good, friendly, and service pretty timely considering the whole place even in the next room was capacity full.
(2)Revel W.
Deliciousness! Most yummy breakfast. I had farm fresh eggs omelette, veggies with chèvre cheese. AND the wheat toast with lemon curd and jam....WOW. Most delicious bite. Excellent service. Thank you!
(5)Cathy D.
October of 2014 we ate here with our two grandkids. We were visiting from the SF Bay Area and LOVED this place. The lemon curd was phenomenal, the bread heavenly, the kids pancakes were huge and absolutely amazing. My husband is a big meat and potato lover and he was NOT disappointed. I had an omelette that I swear could have fed the whole family IF I wanted to share, but I didn't! We have eaten all over the country, have flown to Chicago for dinner on a whim, chartered boats to sail on the Bay while we enjoy a quiet dinner, but THIS was awesome! We love love love local diners, "greasy spoons" (although this wasn't greasy). You could tell the people who run this place, cook, bake, serve, enjoy every moment of it. The pride shows and the locals were very welcoming. I love it so much my parents are stopping in for breakfast tomorrow on their way to Michigan from Phoenix via Yakima (don't ask!). Please don't miss this wonderful establishment. Im wondering if I can get a flight out tomorrow to meet the parents for breakfast....... :-D
(5)Lindsey C.
We stopped here on the recommendation of locals. It was a hole in the wall... Normally LOVE these places. In this case they try TO HARD to be creative. Service was friendly but super slow, our food took FOREVER. And the breakfast spaghetti everyone raves about? Just didn't get it. Tasted like a pasta dish with egg on it to us. No front flavor with chili back end. mind not blown. This was more like a train wreck in my mouth, ok and hard to look away but wrong on many levels.
(3)Troy M.
I highly recommend a breakfast visit to Garnet Cafe. The overall experience was excellent. I had the Hayden omelette and my wife had the focaccia French toast. The omelette and potatoes were exceptional and the Rosemary toast with lemon curd and raspberry jam was amazing. We weren't hungry enough to order two omelettes and the French toast exceeded expectations.
(5)Greg C.
Absolutely awesome food. Great experience. I had the spaghetti and eggs and my wife had the bonner omelette. Can't wait to go back
(5)Brenda O.
My hubby and I both had omelets. I had the special which had avocado on it and this is partly why it gets 4 stars - there is nothing worse to me then rock hard avocado. The section we sat at definitely needs a refresh of paint but the local paintings were neat. Another reason for a 4 star and in this I agree with another reviewer - the lady who pours coffee pours it so high it sloshes everywhere. I'm nitpicking but it's all worth noting. I would go here again even for its minor faults.
(4)Perry V.
Very good food. Kind of off the path, but we thought it was worth it. Had the Benewah which was light and tasty.
(5)Rico R.
Amazing fresh and tasty breakfast. Got the omelet with farm fresh eggs, locally grown bacon, and local grass fed steak. Highly recommend this place for anyone that lives here or is just passing through like we were. Only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was that we sat and waited 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us and then another 30 for our food to come out. But totally worth the wait!
(4)Madeline H.
Absolutely loved it! Food was fantastic, staff was great, setting was very cute. Only problems were that there weren't enough forks and napkins and the coffee wasn't that hot. But the food is local from a farm nearby! Everything tasted fresh and perfect. I got the Coeur d' Alene omelet and it was spectacular. Highly recommend.
(4)Brock H.
Ate here while staying in town for a day. The quality of the food is exceptional, which is unsurprising given that it's sourced from a local farm owned by the same people. On top of that we found the dishes were creative and well executed. We had the Cuban sandwich and their take on a Croque Monsieur. Both had nice touches that elevated the sandwiches above what you'd get at most restaurants. The Monte Cristo in particular was our favorite, and came with an exceptional raspberry bacon jam - pure heaven. I'd also recommend trying the eggs here because they are so fresh you can taste it. My only gripe was that it took them over 15 minutes to even greet us when we could see multiple open tables around the restaurant. Our server however was good (if not a bit rushed) once we were seated.
(4)Eric Y.
Small with a long wait due to its popularity. Be sure to factor that into your visit. Excellent coffee, very good hash, undercooked potatoes I assume die to the volume and pressure on the kitchen in a busy day. The omelets were light and fluffy but a little thin on flavor. All in all a nice stop but not too far above average. I will say that their bread was amazing and a highlight and we really enjoyed the jams and spreads that were served with it.
(3)Scott L.
This is the best breakfast I have ever had. The corned beef hash and eggs were surprisingly incredible. The toast with lemon curd and jam was freakingtastic. I will eat breakfast every time I come to Coeur d' Alene.
(5)Tierzah M.
Absolutely love this place!!!! Best breakfast around!!! Love the Bonner Omelette and their Rosemary bread with the specialty sauces!! Mm I want some right now but they're closed. Seriously, Try this place!! Don't be scared by the small feel inside, the food is fabulous!!
(5)Tina C.
My favorite breakfast place! They offer so many great things. Egg beaters, oatmeal, and amazing rosemary bread. On the weekends, there is usually a 10 min wait or so. But it is so worth it. I wish they served coffee while you wait, like Michael D's. The food here is consistently good. Service has always been great. Prices are reasonable. Food is hot and served together with the entire table's order.
(5)Crystal L.
This breakfast was amazing!! Spaghetti for breakfast???? I wasn't sure but Paige recommended it and weLOVED it. The rosemary toast was a hit too.
(5)Erle M.
We were driving across the state on a road trip ... Looking for the best local breakfast spot ... Hit up my trusty yelp app ... And this spot looked like a good spot ... It was absolutely amazing ... The staff was great and the food was awesome !!!!!!!
(5)Brittney N.
Two words: Duck Sausage. The other stuff is good, but the Duck Sausage is where it's at. This is a unassuming little place, and if you don't keep an eye out you will drive right pass it. But seriously...Duck Sausage
(4)Nash M.
Best Breakfast In Town Just go there it has everything from Brass Monkeys to Bloody Mary's Sockeye Salmon to Duck Confit Spaghetti which is great for breakfast there Just go there if you haven't I've NEVER been disappointed :)
(5)Rynessa O.
We ate HERE. Fun local spot. An old-fashioned cottage CAFE. Organic meat and veggies grown locally. Homemade raspberry jelly and lemon curd. This is a great place breakfast only on weekends.Breakfast and lunch M-F . Food was seasoned nicely. I did the spaghetti breakfast with eggs. Looking at some of the other items others ordered we will be coming here often to try homemade corned beef hash, green eggs and ham, ( scrambled eggs with pesto sauce).
(5)Matt G.
By far one of the BEST places to get breakfast in Coeur d' Alene. The prices are pretty fair and the food itself is very tasty. The omelettes are very enjoyable, I suggest the Hayden omelet it's my personal favorite.
(5)Michelle B.
Just a little place tucked right off of Hwy 95. We like to try places that are quaint with not just ordinary food, they have the old standby if that's what you want. My husband had home-made corn beef hash and I had the spaghetti, yes spaghetti for breakfast, awesome food and service.
(5)Brett M.
Heard great things about this place, so had to check it out. It was okay. I'm a gravy fan, so it's got to be pretty damn good, or I'm disappointed. The gravy here was blah. Basic flower gravy that needed to be salted to death. Wifey-pooh had an omelet potatoes, which were also bland. The vibe was pretty cool though, with funky art and decor, but that's about it in the "good" department. Seems a lot of people love this place, so maybe it's worth another shot... We shall see.
(3)Blt B.
Little house with amazing breakfast! Excellent service! Eclectic decor and a smile every time at the counter. Get their early or you'll wait out the door.
(5)Chaud F.
Used to be a great "go to" place. Took all our out of town visitors there. Then, something changed... I believe the Garnet was sold. Well, since then been back three times. First time was as a happy return guest. That visit was a total disaster. Wait staff rude, inattentive, and generally careless. You know empty coffee cups, empty Iced tea glasses, used to serve Clamato juice in a pint canning jar ( cool ) now a very small can, served in a ... can ( not cool ). Gave it a rest to cool off, I hate it when my best places go to the dogs. 1 year later, next visit, it got worse? Table settings left in little baskets with odd numbers of utensils. Had to feed a table of 4 with 3 forks 6 spoons and 2 knives, awkward. Pointed it out to the server. Total aire of contempt and then didn't fix it. Bummer! Food just okay. Third time walked out after rude server left us sitting fir 20 minutes with coffee, tea, or a how do you do. We are so over the "new Garnet." If you didn't make it there, you have already missed the boat. Spend your time and money somewhere else. This place stinks now, the servers make sure. And what is up with the cow skull "art"? Greasy spiderweb infested bones are not welcome in the dining room.
(2)Serena K.
The bonner omelette and Bellini were absolutely amazing. Good service and yummy rosemary bread, baked in house!
(4)Andrew W.
This is honestly one of my favorite restaurants in all of Coeur d'Alene. I'm not a breakfast person, but The Garnet is amazing. I've tried several of the omelets, the stuffed French toast, duck confit, and now the salmon. All are amazingly delicious and cooked perfectly. The service is friendly too. All experiences I've had here have definitely been 5 stars.
(5)Wendy H.
So delicious! I'm in love with the lemon curd! I had the Hayden omelette and it was amazing! Their sausage is amazing too! I drove from Spokane and I'd do it again-totally worth it!
(5)Mi P.
Surprised such poor service for the reviews we read. Food flavor was good, but too greasy. We came in for breakfast, and the sign said seat yourself. Seat yourself ended up being forgotten in a corner, with no service. We constantly had to ask for service, refills, and the check. Would not recommend.
(2)John M.
Great food - fresh and homemade ingredients. I had eggs and potatoes with the duck sausage and rosemary sourdough toast. Tried their recommendation of the lemon curd and raspberry jam together on the toast - excellent! The duck sausage was really good. They are going to need to a bigger place - get there early on the weekend.
(5)Joyce R.
Breakfast was delightful and hearty at this charming farm to table eatery. I enjoyed flavorful smoked trout and fresh eggs under a shade arbor draped with honeysuckle. Fresh herbs, rosemary bread with homemade lemon curd and tasty potatoes completed my meal. Service was friendly and attentive. A new favorite. Go there! I arrived early and had no problem getting a table. By the time I finished, the line was out the door. They're doing lots of things right at Garnet Cafe! Can't wait to try lunch!
(5)Cult C.
Attentive service. For example, the waitress noticed that my lunch date decided to share her cup of soup, and she immediately provided an extra soup spoon. She also refilled my water after we cashed out. I had the duck confit, one of the few restaurants in town that offers duck. Food preparation and portions were standard for breakfast. My date had a lunch plate, and she enjoyed it and commented that she looked forward to the leftovers. A good solid business for breakfast and lunch
(4)John R.
Oh Garnet, how do i love thee??? Let me count the ways...i live for fresh lemon curd and toast, local chevre, CORNED BEEF HASH, focaccia french toast, egg white omelets.....i wish i was there right now! Truly fabulous. Always great service and great strong coffee. A true gem! Pun intended.
(5)Erin S.
GET THE SPAGHETTI!!! It comes with eggs and although it is an unconventional breakfast, you'll be so happy you ordered it. So. Delicious. This place is so good, great quality food and ingredients, the food is excellently seasoned. It just seems like a regular breakfast joint, but the food is far superior than many other places. Great price too!
(5)Brad E.
This place oozes awesomeness. We signed our name to the wait list and picked up our cup of coffee to ease the wait (nice touch). We sat down and listened to some music as we chose a smorgasbord of yelpers' recommendations. The corned beef hash as others have mentioned had great flavor. It had that home made flair. The chopped potatoes, onions, and corned beef were perfectly balanced and seasoned. The duck sausage was rich and flavorful. It's a little different. Too rich for me to eat it all but it was a good treat. The bacon was over the top. Heavy smokey flavor. I cook my bacon on a traegger and it has similar flavor. Excellent! Stuffed French toast with banana and Nutella was dessert for breakfast. Very rich. I don't think I could eat a whole order. Finally, the northwest omelet had salmon goat cheese, mushrooms and veggies. Great omelet. So...I admit I'm a fatso....but I'm glad we tried each of these dishes. They did not disappoint.
(5)Jaclyn H.
LOVE their scramble with salmon. This place is great, I love it!
(5)Wendy B.
I am a local and this was my favorite place to eat until the last year, or so. I had such an unpleasant experience, prior, with the wait staff who was actually the owner. She was very rushed and unfriendly. She even picked my plate saying "all done?". Before I could even reply. Never came back to check on how I liked my meal, and she was the owner! I just tried the cafe again after a year, and it was even worse. Very unfriendly wait staff with no service! I finally left after at least 20 minutes. My car was parked 2 blocks away and when I arrived realized I had forgotten my phone. I went back to the table where I had been seated and not only was my cell still on the table but so was my menu and water after almost 30 minutes! I waitressed for over 5 years, and then owned a coffee house and retail shop, so I was completely amazed.
(2)Elliot J.
If your looking for an excellent breakfast place. The garnet is the perfect hole in the wall fit. Unique dishes and thirst quenching drinks with a touch of grandmas type cooking. This is the place to have breakfast in cda
(5)Debby D.
Wow! A 15 min wait for a table on a rainy Wednesday morning at 10??, but well worth the wait. Looked at things like duck eggs and some more exotic breakfast items but stuck with standards. I had biscuits and gravy which came with 2 eggs (perfectly poached) and a sausage patty for a great low price. My husband had ham and eggs which came with 2 huge thick slices of excellent ham. The best though was the little cups of homemade raspberry jam and lemon curd that came with his toast. The waitress came with the suggestion to mix them. AWESOME!!!! The lemon curd alone was great too. Once we were seated the service was speedy and very pleasant. Wish we lived here to be regulars!
(5)Honey B.
This is a farm to table cafe that serves real, homegrown, pastured meats and eggs and produce. Cute atmosphere, good service, excellent food! Just the kind of place you run across and say "lucky me!" It's so nice to know exactly where your food came from, how it was raised, and be able to follow the whole process. There should be more little gems like The Garnet!
(5)Eric W.
Delicious breakfast, quick and friendly service, fun atmosphere and reasonably priced. Only con was I ordered a scramble, but got an omelet. It was still delicious though.
(5)Bree H.
Inspired. Unbelievable. Best breakfast restaurant I've ever been to. This is how I describe the Garnet Cafe. The service is very friendly and the food, the food! We asked for their signature dish and, in the breakfast spaghetti, they delivered! It sounds weird, I know, but trust me - do it and get it with the Rosemary bread. The Nutella/banana stuffed French toast was beyond delicious, in a realm that French toast rarely ventures. And be sure to get some duck sausage on the side. Seriously, if you haven't eaten here, you haven't lived!
(5)Karlie V.
Really nice omelettes. Tastey choices. The service was not impressive. After being seated it was a 45 minute wait and the server didn't check on us at all or offer us something to tide us over. Improve the service and this would be a 4 star.
(3)Matt T.
Solid food, but it took almost an hour to get our order after putting it in. No apologies or updates along the way. Not good.
(2)Donna H.
I order the special, french toast with carmel apple topping. The topping was just right, not too sweet and you could still taste the apple. Could have been a tad warmer. Coffee was just right. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Would give 4.5 if I had the option.
(4)Mikey M.
Amazing brunch spot! Great big sized portions and the staff is extremely friendly. Also set in a very quaint setting :)
(5)Cheryl N.
Reluctantly leaving Coeur D'Alene on our cross-country/Canada road trip, we squeezed in a late morning visit to The Garnet Cafe for some nourishment and caffeine...who wouldn't? The outdoor seating was full so we took seats in one of the cozy dining rooms - still bright and filled with amusing art and artifacts. The breakfast servings are huge, and we easily shared the omelet with goat cheese and avocado - the omelets are named after Idaho cities, and it's clear the management has fun with coming up with the combinations and the names. The rosemary-sourdough toast was delicious! Our bill came in a (cleaned) spam can, which was "kinda cute!" The waitstaff seemed a tad weary, but that could be because of the usual morning rush - which is why it might be better to sleep in and start your day with brunch instead of breakfast! It was easy to park on the street, and heading out of town on the long day's drive was made easier with the yummy breakfast we'd just tucked into. Go ahead, and go!
(4)Cameron W.
Great breakfast/lunch spot a little away from the tourist crowd. Fluffy omelets. Best wheat toast with lemon curd. Fast, friendly service. A real find!
(5)Matthew W.
I'm also one who doesn't really get the hype about this place. I've eaten here a few times with family, my little sister enjoys it quite a bit. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, I really like the biscuits and gravy, but seeing as I'm not a fan of duck that eliminated a pretty huge chunk of the menu. The atmosphere isn't the greatest, the restaurant is in a rather small house that was converted to a business. Its is an old building, the floors are uneven and on a cold morning the place is extremely drafty and cold. The quarters are a little cramped so good luck if you are sitting near any annoying patrons, you are unable to avoid hearing every part of their conversation no matter how much you wish you couldn't. My biggest problem though is the waitstaff, they are never very friendly and have an attitude that seems to convey that they are doing you a favor by taking your order or bringing your food. It tends to lend the establishment an air of pretension which I find a little strange considering its otherwise humble characteristics. I'll still eat here if its requested by people I'm dining with, but it's not a place I would ever suggest myself. Postscript: after posting the review I noticed the ambience had been rated as "hipster". That is the perfect description; if you are annoyed by all things considered hipster, this probably is not the place for you.
(2)Andrea S.
Everything about this place just oozes cozy.. I mean, you're eating breakfast in someone's old house, how could you not be? I came here on vacay with the family (during the weekday, so we didn't experience any sort of wait), and we all enjoyed our breakfasts..except the lil' sis who had corned beef hash: I should note that she is used to the can variety. I managed to sneak a bite, and thought it was quite good despite not being in a can ;P I ended up getting an omelet which was the perfect serving size.. not too large, but enough to fill me up for the day! The bread that came with it was scrumptious, even without the jams that accompany it. And while I'm more of a hashbrowns type of person instead of diced potatoes, they were good and you can tell they put a lot of care into making the food. This is a great place to enjoy a slow morning with the newspaper, or some pleasant conversationalists. Thanks Yelpers for the suggestions-- this place deserves its stars for offering inventive, fresh and good quality food.
(5)Theresa P.
I loved the food, staff and atmosphere. Everything on the menu sounded outstanding. This was my best meal on my trip to Coeur 'd Alene!
(5)Ginny F.
Food matters but customer service makes the fifth star! The two gals working with us were awesome, making us feel like we were locals, although we were just passing through to Casper via Yellowstone. They both took the time to talk to us, really talk to us as people instead of customers. No wonder CDA, ID is our second home! Now the food....salmon atop an awesome salad cooked just right and a pork sandwich to smile over (sorry, don't remember the names of the menu items because the taste was all I can think about)! Food and service, a big two thumbs up!
(5)Laura C.
Terrific breakfast. Relaxed atmosphere friendly service. Omelette's are fantastic. The drink menu is extensive for breakfast. Now if their side potatoes could be served actually HOT they would be perfect.
(4)Alexander L.
Great small setting for breakfast, very attentive staff and simply amazing food. I always make sure to seeing through whenever I stay in Coeur d'Alene.
(5)Mark E.
I don't get the hype about this place. The place is fine but average. The food I had included a pancake that was obviously burned on one side, and which side do you think was facing up. If it's obviously prepared incorrectly don't try to hide it. Do it over. The potatoes were undercooked and could have used seasoning, perhaps some herbs, and the bell peppers in the potatoes were cold, not luke warm but cold. Perhaps the cook was overcompensating for burning the cake. On top of it all were the prices. A bit steep. It felt like a place that thinks they can charge a bit more and skimp on quality because they have a following of people that go there not because of the awesomeness but because it's "the place to go". I was not impressed. Average at best in my book. I realize that my dissenting voice may be lost in the hype, but you've been warned.
(3)Erin S.
I'm thinking that this is going to be my new favorite breakfast place. It is hands down the best in the Coeur d'Alene area. The atmosphere is relaxing and homey, but it's fairly small, so you might have to wait, but don't worry, it's worth it. The coffee was pretty good, the Hayden omelet was great. It was stuffed full of fresh avocado, bacon and cheese with a tasty side of seasoned red potatoes. I also split a side of biscuits and gravy with a friend, but only got a few bites in before he commandeered it. The gravy was creamy with bits of sausage and the biscuits almost seemed like Irish soda bread....mmmm. The other two guys I was with loved their meals. The guy who "shared" the biscuits and gravy also got the bacon and eggs meal, that also had the red potatoes, which he loved. His brother got the steak and it looked really good. It came with crumbled blue cheese on top with fresh bread and red potatoes also. Our sever was great. She kept our coffee cups full and checked on us throughout the meal to make sure we had everything. The bill was very reasonable. The only complaint that we could think of was the price of the steak. There are good, cheaper steaks at other breakfast places, but who cares! This place is fantastic and we can't wait to go there again.

Everytime I go here its always great service, great food and have never had a bad experience. Love that they use all local food and perfect portions with a nice price. Order the Northwest Omlete and their mimosa and you will be one happy camper! Its always busy in there and small quarters but the trick is to get there early in the morning before the huge crowds show up. Dont be discouraged when the line is out the door, totally worth the wait.
(5)Andrew D.
Excellent breakfast. I am a breakfast junkie, and this is a great place to start the day. Omelets are outstanding and the French toast is even better.
(5)Mimi K.
The best breakfast joint in town. The omelets are fluffy as can be and the potatoes are delish!
(5)Michelle R.
Wow. We got here early on Sunday and sat outside on the patio. No wait at 8:30 am. The coffee is really good. I had the duck confit which was incredible. The bread is super good and we also had the huckleberry pancakes. The lemon curd, really? Off the hook. I highly, highly recommend. This is really a wonderful, wonderful place. It is unique with well prepared, innovative choices and great service. Wish I lived in Coeur D'Alene!
(5)Laney D.
So this was the second time I stopped in, the first was by accident and it was so good when I knew I was going to be out in Coeur 'd Alene I had to try and find it again. I had the beans and eggs- white beans, onions, peppers and just enough garlic. Yum yum! My boyfriend had the corned-beef hash since it said it was homemade. Another good choice. Nice tender shreds of beef, peppers, onions, potatoes. The first time I remembered getting the Bonner omelet, fresh veggies, fresh goat cheese. Delicious. And the price for the food? Great. 10$ for a veggie omelet with homemade bread and a side of potatoes. Do yourself a favor, stop in. It is small, but any place playing Snoop, serving organic local farm eggs and offering a garden patio area is worth a try.

Yet another restaurant find I owe to Yelp. I will definitely make this a family tradition every time we're in Coeur D'Alene. Quality ingredients and reasonable cost. Garnet has the best take on Green Eggs and Ham than anywhere else I've seen. You can tell the folks at Garnet are really embracing their passion.
(4)David A.
This place is fantastic, amazing breakfast joint. I go through Coeur D'Alene and was looking for a place to get some breakfast. I searched Yelp for a place to eat and this place came up with rave reviews of the corned beef hash. I love corned beef hash so this was a no-brainer. I love corned beef hash but it is almost never made well and this was awesome. As a rule, I prefer hash browns and hate diced potato's (always seems a bit pretentious) but I have to admit I loved the potatoes. I sat there the whole time thinking, "Damn, I wish we had one of these where I live!" I will arrange the timing of my next transit through Coeur D'Alene to make sure I can get there for breakfast.
(5)Steven T.
I admit it - I am a very hard person to impress with breakfast but this place did. Everything from the service, charm of the establishment, high quality meals, good potatoes, unique menu items, homemade jams and lemon curd. Excellent high end breads, etc. etc. I will also admit that I am glad I don't live close to here because I would probably end up eating here a lot and gaining lots of weight (normal breakfast is a bowl of oats and fruit). However I have found the best breakfasts in the area bar none and they are here. I never thought I would give a breakfast place 5 stars but they deserve it.
(5)Nathan H.
I think the owners are fans of the group "Beastie Boys" since they have a drink on the menu called "Brass Monkey". I wasn't brave enough to try it but, I did eat breakfast here. I would call the food here non-traditional...or maybe semi-traditional with a twist. I had the chicken-fried porkchop and loved it. I don't remember what my friend had but he muttered apreciative noises throughout the meal. The coffee was excellent, which is critical for breakfast and I NEVER had to ask the waitress top me off as she was always johnny on the spot with water and coffee whenever we started getting low. The atmosphere is casual and comfy. I recommend coming early though because this place fills up fast. I will definitely be back.

Thanks to all of the review sites out there. On our road trip from Wyoming to Seattle, we didn't want to stop by a small town because there probably aint much there and I'm not sure if small towns are safe. So I came upon some road trip advice to stay in Coeur D'Alene. It was definitely helpful because this town is big and has plenty of restaurants, hotels, fast food etc. So I used yelp to find a breakfast place for us and decided to try this neat little place. This is by far the best breakfast place I've been to. It has a large selection of things. I tried the salmon with orange marmalade. It was delicious, I ate everything on the plate so the dishwashing lady/guy would have an easy time. It had a large piece of salmon, bigger than the ones you get in restaurants, with potatoes, toast, eggs and vegetables. It was fulfilling and about $12. A recommend for road trips. Big towns usually have good places to eat while the selection is limited in small towns. The place is packed and there is limited parking in the park.
(5)Tom M.
The corned beef hash is excellent. I like it with a little but of gravy on top. The rosemary toast is also very good.
(5)Gabriel S.
My husband took me on a surprise breakfast date here, and we were both quite happy with his decision. It is a little hole in the wall place on an unlikely out of the way little street with a fun quirky interior, good service, and delicious food at a good price. It was a busy Saturday morning but they got us seated in about ten minutes and we got to order pretty quickly. Our food came out in a timely fashion. I particularly enjoyed my crab, avocado, tomato, and cream cheese omelet with potatoes and sour dough toast, and my husband quite enjoyed the eggs benedict special. I also enjoyed a peach belini (alcohol at breakfast is unusual for me but this was a special occasion) with my meal. Nothing felt too slow or too rushed, and our server was attentive without being intrusive. Also, and this is important to me, no loud obnoxious music. My husband and I actually were able to engage in a nice conversation without having to raise our voices. This is always a perk for me when it seems like so many restaurants these days are interested in you either going deaf or hoarse having to compete with their music.
(4)Chris W.
This is really the best breakfast in town. If your looking for a quick bite to eat, and typical food, go to Denny's. This is the kind of place you go when you have a sophisticated palette. So far everything I have had has been great. And although there is normally a wait, the people waiting are always enjoyable to chat with. Don't pass this place up. AND GET THE DUCK SAUSAGE!!!
(5)S M.
Love this place! Been several times now, and always good! Had the steak and fried eggs last time. Steak was hot and perfectly cooked. Fried eggs were perfectly cooked (over medium), but not real hot by the time they got to us. Husband's eggs weren't hot either. Coffee is very good and plentiful. Menu is unique with rosemary toast and lemon curd (YUM). Nice atmosphere with attentive and friendly waitresses. Haven't tried everything yet, so will be back again and again!
(4)Robert S.
Wow! The most interesting breakfast menu I've seen in a very very long time! Locals and traverlers favorite. Go there!
(5)Kathy J.
Came by for breakfast today. Yelpers steered us right again. Thanks. Excellent food and service.
(5)Glenn G.
Love the corned beef hash. Put gravy on it iseven better.Great menu. Locals favorite place.
(4)Drea B.
Very yummy brunch! The spaghetti and eggs were perfect! Mmm, gonna have to come back sooner than later!
(4)Nick D.
Passing through and found this place on yelp. We came from the San Francisco Bay Area where we are spoiled for food. This place is top knotch!
(5)Amanda B.
I'd come back here for the bread alone. That was the best toast I've ever had. Add lemon curd and raspberry jam, bonus! Seriously, give me a bucket of that lemon curd and a spoon and I'd be the happiest person on earth. I had an omelet, don't remember which one, but it was good and the perfect size. Perfect portion of the delicious potatoes as well. Also, a nice big mimosa to wash everything down. I wish I would have asked if they made the bread in house or if they purchased it from somewhere. Good stuff!
(4)John S.
After hearing all the fanfare about this place I took the plunge and entered the mysterious hole in the wall that so many locals had enthusiastically yelped about. I'll have to say I am glad I did andwishec would of done it much sooner! Day 1 I had the sockeye salmon on a bed of sauteed vegetables with an amazing wheat toast topped with option lemon and raspberry spread. I highly suggest this meal. Day 2 I had the corned beef hash. It too was amazing and filling. Day3 I had the duck dish... It was good but a little too lunchy for my breakfast dish. Here's a tip though... if you can't decide between a certain breakfast meal or biscuits and gravy you can substitute your toast for B&G for only $1.50. You get the best of both. (Except the toast is really good too!) Truly a 5 star hole in the wall restaurant. A must try.
(5)J. C.
This place is by far the best place for breakfast in Coeur d'Alene. There is usually a wait on the weekends and on most week days, but it's always worth it. The service is top notch, and the food is great. Get the Rosemary toast with Lemon Curd and Raspberry Jam! I wish they'd bring back Heidi's pancakes, those are delicious!!!
(5)Jeannie S.
Restaurant is small so be prepared to eat in tight quarters. Service was excellent but the wait was a bit longer than I had expected. Food was good but I wouldn't say over-the-top great and they only have beer & wine so I couldn't enjoy a real Bloody Mary. I would go again during a work week but not when I'm on a vacation.
(3)Lisa C.
Thank you Yelpers for directing me to this charming out of the way place! I needed a quick but hearty breakfast to fuel my drive to Glacier Park. It was already 75 degrees at 8 am so I ate in the front garden area which was very cozy and pleasant. Had a simple meal of the local farm fresh eggs, home fries which unexpectedly were improved by the addition of onions, peppers and mushrooms, whole wheat English muffin with strawberry jam, and fresh squeezed OJ. The whole thing set me back just $10 including the tip. Next time I will try some of the more exotic items! I didn't try their coffee as I had already had too much, I hope it's as good as the rest of the meal.
(5)hoag h.
Excellent.... This place is to breakfast what Syringa (next door) is to sushi. None better for hundreds of miles.
(5)Mark B.
Best breakfast in Coeur D' Alene. Very friendly staff. Great coffee. Serves breakfast 'til 1pm which is an amazing oddity in CDA! Love the omeletes and chicken fried pork cutlet thingy.
(4)Ryan A.
Garnet is right down the street from my house, and I can't tell you how happy we are to have another great addition to the midtown area. Coeur D'Alene is crawling with dozens of successful breakfast places, and everyone seems to have a favorite breakfast cafe to frequent. And lets face it, while many places do very well at making the staples (eggs, meat, potatoes, toast) around here, there has yet to be anything until now that has offered something unique. While many breakfast places have opened and closed back down since garnet opened, garnet is ALWAYS packed because they have really unique food offerings that stand out from every other joint, friendly service (which is amazing for how busy they are), and has always been consistent. I appreciate it because their menu is equally suited for the vegetarian options as well as hearty breakfasts, leans towards organic/local availability, and has great alcoholic breakfast options (brass monkey/chelada/sake bloody/pitcher of mimosas). Make no mistake, the place is small, and it is popular, so if you're in a hurry, it's not a good choice- but the staff does a good job of getting people in quickly, getting you served, and getting you out, without you feeling rushed. I've always considered it worth the wait.
(5)Lynne R.
Okay, the restaurant lived up to the hype and even the 30 minute wait for a table. The servers were bustling to get people their food, but were friendly even so. The hubby did a make your own omelet with duck sausage, veggies and goat cheese...he really enjoyed it. He also got rosemary toast with it, which he said was good, but he didn't want to eat because he wanted to help me eat my french toast stuffed with cream cheese and berries. Oh, and the greek yogurt w/granola and fruit--excellent yogurt, mixed berries with only a few pieces of cantaloupe (my bete noir, the mixed fruit ALWAYS has cantaloupe, which I HATE :D) and granola. Oh, and if they put a small bowl of something which you think MIGHT be butter that's been sitting near the stove too long--it's not, it's yummy lemon curd. And it goes great on that french toast I mentioned before. So...definitely check it out!
(5)Jen P.
Excellent food of good quality. Beans n eggs. Waffle with triple berry sauce. Veggie omelet. Biscuits n gravy with sausage. All enjoyed by my family. Not to mention organic coffee. Superb service, nice atmosphere. Will surely stop back during our travels.
(5)J P.
The Garnet has a lot of great-looking, tempting, but very rich-looking items on their menu (duck, salmon, trout). Would be good for brunch, but too much for us for the early-in-the-day meal we had to have. So we kept it simple with eggs for me and eggs & sausage for DH. DH wasn't crazy about the sausage. Toast & potatoes came with each order. With the toast, they serve in-house made lemon curd which is tangy and delish, along with raspberry preserves which are only so-so (not made in-house). The combo of the two, though, are really nice together. The servers were friendly, attentive and helpful.
(4)Jessica C.
Best breakfast in CDA hands down. The servers are great and the food is amazing. Seating is a bit tight but worth it.
(5)Cosmo W.
Wow! What can I say- this place is just the best! You will feel like you're at a big family breakfast! Happy staff, great food and wonderful atmosphere- and the Cheladas! Yum! I love this place, especially on a Sunday Morning!
(5)Nicholas L.
This place is effing amazing. And for that reason, I suggest you NEVER GO THERE. It will seriously ruin breakfast for you for the rest of your life. I'm halfway through a two month stint in Coeur d'Alene for work and I'm already lamenting the loss of the the Garnet Cafe from my life in 4 weeks. What am I gonna do? Go to an IHOP and sit there and eat my swill while I think about how it'd be three thousand times (I actually measured this objectively) better if I was at TGC? I'm not sure that's a world I even want to live in. Chicken fried steak? Best I've ever had. And I've had a lot, as my waistline signifies. Duck sausage? Amazing. Omelets? Incredible. Biscuits and gravy? It's not just the best I've ever had, I dare say it's the best biscuits and gravy that every could be. Recommendation: Biscuits and gravy with a side of duck sausage. You won't regret it. Plus they have garnets on the counter, which I appreciate because I'm a nerdy geologist. And the staff is SUPER nice. Great service. On the weekends get your ass there early though. I like 8:30 AM or earlier. I tried to go at 10:30 once and I thought there was a Dead concert in the parking lot or something, so many people were milling about outside. Weekdays I'm not as sure, but I went today at 11:30 and there was plenty of seating. I think they open at seven. I work at 7:30. I'm thinking if I get there right before they open, order right away, eat real quick, I could manage to eat here twice a day. Every day. And that would be an okay thing.

The Garnet has hosted my cravings for delicious breakfast the past two Sunday's and I'm pleasantly surprised with the results. For me, nothing soothes a hangover like a hearty helping of rich breakfast foods: eggs, bacon, potatoes, orange juice, etc, and this lovely little spot behind Syringa is perfect to get your fix. Only here, you're not limited to the same old, same old. I'd highly recommend the duck confit and eggs... it's served pulled off the bone with caramelized onions/peppers, slightly sweet and completely amazing. They have an original selection of omelets, some sharing ingredients/names with rolls from the aforementioned sushi joint, which is interesting. The staples of the breakfast menu are all here: bacon, ham, corned beef hash, and great potatoes, but different enough from the norm to stand out. I intend to make my way all the way around this menu because everything I've seen/tasted has exceeded my expectations. A huge variety of drinks, including mimosa's and blood mary's... mmmm. Their coffee is also a really good brew, nice and smooth. The service here is great, really nice people who want to make sure everything is perfect. Last tip: try the rosemary bread, it's just delicious. And if you come down on a Sunday you're liable to see me trying to recover from the night before!
(4)Jyoti N.
small home cooked atmospere
(3)Tom F.
Breakfast spaghetti with eggs over easy, A+, worth the 15 min wait to get in here! Doesn't look like much from the outside, but trust me!

When I was a kid, brunch just seemed like that inbetween meal where you get a couple slices of cantaloupe, but as I've gotten older I've come to realize that it's so much more that, and drinking is more a part of it than I could have ever imagined. A good brunch starts the night before, typically on a Friday or a Saturday night. You go out drinking with friends, and you stay out late, hopefully until the bar closes, then you go home and get a good 5 to 6 hours of sleep before waking up still feeling kind of drunk and beginning to crave something that resembles a breakfast, but with more options. I believe that brunch needs drinks, and several different kinds, and all at the same time. Water, coffee, some kind of fruit juice, and at least one that has alcohol. A place can't be a good brunch place if they don't serve alcohol, and I'm not talking about shots of tequilla and jager bombs, it really is just as simple as getting a bloody mary or a mimosa. Garnet provides a couple options of bloody mary, one is like the deluxe model, and the other is like the super deluxe model. The difference between the two is the amount of stuff that is in the bloody mary, and the super deluxe model has enough in it to be a breakfast all on it's own. Aside from the excellent bloody mary options, Garnet also does a Brass Monkey, which is a 40oz Old English with fresh squeezed OJ, and I know that sounds weird, but go with it, because it somehow works really well. The food at Garnet is amazing. Some of the best brunch options I've ever had to choose from, and believe me it's ALL GOOD. I love that they have SPAM and eggs on the menu, but I gotta admit I'm disappointed it doesn't come with a scoop of white rice. If they're trying for the Hawaiian style breakfast, then it should have a scoop of rice with it. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I love brunch, and I can tell by the way this place manages their menu, that whoever owns and operates Garnet Cafe is a brunch person too. Kudos, and thanks for making Coeur d'Alene a more interesting and delicious place to live.

We waited for ~45 minutes to get a table, but hoped it would be worth the wait. We had decided what we wanted to eat by the time that we sat down, but when we tried to order, our waitress refused to take any order but our drinks. (she apparently had a system that was unbreakable) When we did place our order, it took a very long time to get our food, and it wasn't that great. Even getting our bill and paying took 5xs longer than it should have. We were at a corner table that we thought would be cozy, but we spent our entire meal fighting off flies. We won't be back. We tried to love it, but it let us down.
(1)Craig H.
Everything about this place is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and the food is exceptional. They have some very unique options with eggs. I had their northwestern omelette with rosemary bread and their homemade preserves - all fantastic. I am only in town for a few days, but definitely plan to go back again before I leave!
(5)Amanda M.
The Garnet Cafe has great food. That's unquestionable. We went there for a much-needed hearty breakfast this morning after a long weekend camping in the Idaho mountains. We were hungry, tired, and looking for something to give us a boost to get back home. And we came to the right place, though the experience was aggravating, at best. The wait was quite a bit longer than anticipated, especially when we had waited for 20 minutes and went to look inside, and found that there were 16 empty seats ready for patrons. It was still over five minutes before we (and the many other people in line behind us) were seated. I was fine with the wait, for the most part. I enjoyed the homey atmosphere, and the throwbacks to the 80s (Beastie Boys memorabilia everywhere and 80s music on the radio). Our waitress was quick to get us tea and coffee, which we were grateful for. I am happy to say the food was terrific. The house Yukon potatoes are fantastic, and the build-your-own omelet was great. Thank god for good food. When we were seated in the room, there was only one table seated prior to us, a four-top. We were seated at the same time as another couple, and then two more four-tops came in after us. The other couple who arrived at the same time as us ordered, received their food and finished their meals before ours ever came. The two four-tops also received their food before us, and one of them arrived a good ten minutes after we did. THEN, when it came time to leave, we COULD NOT get our waitress to bring our bill. Our dogs were waiting for us outside in the car, and I really wanted to get back on the road, so my partner went out to take care of the dogs while I waited to pay, thinking it would only take another five minutes. Every other table in the joint paid and left before the waitress ever took my card. We were at the Garnet Cafe for over TWO HOURS. My partner and I will try the restaurant one more time, and if we encounter such shitty service again, there is no way we will return. I hope I can come back and amend this three-star review, and give the place the five stars the food deserves.
(3)Sarah Y.
AMAZING FOOD! Great vegetarian options as well as gluten free. Great spot if you're looking for something other than the-run-of the-mill eating spots!
(5)Mei-Lu M.
My favorite restaurant in Coeur D'Alene. The food here is creative, made with the best ingredients and really really tasty. They make an effort to source organic, local foods wherever possible (including the coffee) and that care shows in how good the food is. (Even the crab omelet is made with fresh crab!) This restaurant could be located anywhere in the world and I'd come back for the delicious omelets and coffee! I've tried almost every omelet on the menu and I couldn't pick a favorite - they are all delicious. The biscuits and gravy are about the best I've ever had in my life. Just note - this place closes at 2 on the dot (and if they're not busy, they'll close earlier) and isn't open on Mondays. So err on the side of early when you come and be prepared to wait on the weekends (and know that it's worth it).
(4)Jonathan W.
I ordered a vegetarian omelet and it was fantastic. The service was also very impressive, with the waitress readily remembering the names and even orders of my fellow diners from two-weeks prior. I highly recommend the Garnet Café and will be visiting again.
(5)Brady T.
Excellent breakfast. Will definitely be going here again. Very unique menu that can satisfy any of your tastebuds. I haven't been able to find any better place for breakfast in North Idaho!
(5)Jon T.
Stopped by on a cross-country road trip. Duck confit was amazing, omelets were fantastic, and the rosemary toast tasted great. A definite requirement if you're passing through.
(5)Lorri T.
all the way around - delicious!!
(5)David H.
Best breakfast I have had in a long time. Had a morel mushroom and sausage scramble that was really good. Toast, preserves and coffee were also great. Coffee cup never went empty which would have been hard to do anyway as the size of the thing is more like a hot tub with a handle on it.
(5)James T.
Friendly, intimate, delicious, beautiful food. Great variety from plain eggs to duck sausage. I'd go again. For 8 people about $100 for breakfast including drinks and tip.
(5)Shea M.
Glad to discover this palce after following the reviews of the others on this site. Had the Bonner omlette, the beans and eggs, a ceddar mushroom and tomato omlette, along with various toast offerings during the two occassions I had to eat here. The omlettes were very good, but the real treat was the limon curd offered with each meal. The second time we were here during the busy weekend breakfast rush and ended up waiting 15-20 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. Just walk in, put your name on the list and in no time you'll be enjoying tasty breakfast offerings.
(4)Trine R.
One of the best breakfasts of my life. Perfectly seasoned potatoes, cooked bacon, toast with homemade lemon curd, then finally stuffed French toast. Would definitely go back again.
(5)Sean S.
Went with the corned beef hash, eggs, and duck sausage. Worth every inch of the 1100 miles we traveled for it!
(5)Kathleen S.
Just learned that the eggs are local pasture-raised (awesome!). The waitresses seem much less friendly and more harried and rushed than when we used to go a year or so ago. The restaurant got popular but that is no excuse for rudeness. So... 4 stars still :)
(4)John M.
Everything I could hope for at a breakfast joint. I've had everything on the menu and nothing disappoints. I love coming here with a few friends on a lazy Sunday to get breakfast and a brass monkey. On work days I go for coffee and it's some of the best drip in town. The only place I know that does perfect poached eggs every time, which go great with the sockeye salmon. Prices are very reasonable.
(5)Lucas C.
Awesome food every time! Love the atmosphere and it's got a very hip location, most of the time I have had very good service but unfortunately the times that I haven't it hasn't just been a little slow or snobby it was absolutely atrocius. Things happen obviously, it gets busy, the kitchen gets backed up, or the waitresses are just having an off day etc. But there is no excuse for how bad things are some times. None the less it is still one of my top three breakfast places in the greater cad area!
(4)Cindy W.
Excellent Food and Service! Don't let the rustic exterior fool you, inside is tasty food and drink and friendly atmosphere. I love the Hayden omlette, fresh fresh fresh, and everything I've had is very good. Good location to downtown and would recommend to everyone!
(5)Jessica J.
Awesome place for breakfast! On a day trip to the area we stopped by The Garnet. Had an amazing meal! The omelettes are amazing, but my favorites were the bread (wheat is the best) with lemon and raspberry jam and the duck sausage! Never had duck sausage before and it was amazing. The build your own omelette option is nice, especially with the unique variety of ingredients. Coffee is locally brewed and delicious. Great place all around!
(5)Matt W.
Great service. Great food. Great environment. And brass monkeys. Perfect.
(5)Gwen S.
By far the best breakfast I have ever had. I found this place on yelp and agree with overwhelming reviews. I had the smoked trout omelet and split the stuffed French toast with nutella and bananas. I don't know how I am ever going to eat breakfast anywhere else again. Nothing compares. If I only lived closer than 7 hours away I would be there all the time.
(5)Tracy W.
Stopped here on my way to Kelowna for a quick visit from Utah - thanks Yelp. Fun place, good food, cool server, morels instead of mushrooms (wow!). Only "issue" - playing competing music - right now have Supertramp (really) and some folk music (I know nothing about folk music, so no idea) playing simultaneously -- little odd. Lemon curd and raspberry jam for toast - yum! Ted Nugent and folk music now . . . Funny!!
(4)Melanie H.
Great omelets, I recommend the NW. Excellent chewy bread for the toast with lemon curd, oh so good. Also, Bauhaus was playing while we ate and there are B Boys concert posters in the bathroom. You know that spells COOL!
(5)TinaMarie B.
I'm not normally a breakfast person but after trying The Garnet I'm so hooked. Unique delicious menu items!
(5)Jay K.
I can't add anything to the numerous wonderful reviews. Believe the hype! I won't go out for breakfast anyplace else after eating here.
(5)J.T. O.
The ingredient combinations are unexpected but dynamite! This is a fun place for adventurous patrons. Sure it's small and gets packed fast but the food is worth the wait. Put this on your bucket list!
(5)Edward P.
Excellent biscuits and sausage gravy. Corned beef hash was amazing. Fun, friendly servers. You HAVE to check out this place!
(5)Large T.
Best oatmeal on the planet. I'm not sure what they put in the oatmeal to make it so delicious but it was amazing. I also really enjoyed the braised beef and egg whites. I highly recommend this small town sleeper. It's tough to see from the road but once you find it you will never forget it.
(5)Harry C.
I love the Garnet. I wonder what I did for breakfast before they opened? The quality approach and the interesting menu makes for a a great experience. I can not recommend this place enough. Try the White Beans and Eggs.
(5)Frank W.
Everything we had was fantastic. A must go.
(5)Meaghan M.
The food at the Garnet was so good we ate there twice on our vacation. The stuffed French toast was great and the duck sausage was well seasoned and delicious. Try the lemon curd!
(5)Kevin T.
I love this place! Every item on the menu is great. My usual is the Hayden omelette with spinach added. Close second is the enormous portion of fruit covered waffles. You'll know you've made it big time when you try the breakfast spaghetti! Also a place that serves 40's as in Brass Monkey's you know its legit.
(5)Homer D.
Just great! Corned beef hash is the best I've ever had.
(5)Lisa B.
Same owners as Syringa, same awesome cuisine! Very unique and flavorful food! Favorite breakfast food!
(4)Chris H.
I am so glad we looked this place up on Yelp! Excellent food and service. I had the duck confit and it was lovely. Sadly they were out of duck sausage but even their regular home made link sausage was outstanding. Highly recommended.
(5)Maddy W.
BEST BREAKFAST EVER! rosemary bread is delicious, especially with the raspberry jam and lemon curd! Great omelets. Cheap. Service is fantastic. Good potatoes. Overall, best breakfast I've had in a while.
